SourceForge Pricing for Software Vendors and What Each Plan Includes
What a SourceForge listing costs a software vendor, what each paid plan adds, how big the buyer audience really is and how many customers a quote has to return.

A priority listing is $49 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, and includes a review profile, an alternatives page and a dofollow link.
Submit your product See what a listing includesShort answer. SourceForge is free for software vendors at the Basic Business Software Listing level: you can claim, edit and manage your profile without paying. Promotion comes in five paid tiers, Plus, Premium, Amplify, Precision ABM and Enterprise, and SourceForge does not publish a price for any of them. Every paid plan is quoted by its sales team.
Founders search "SourceForge pricing" for one of two reasons. Either a SourceForge rep has emailed about upgrading the listing, or the product already has a free profile and the team wants to know what the next step costs. In both cases the honest answer starts the same way: there is no public number. What you can work out is what each tier adds, which of those features actually move a B2B deal, and how many customers a quote has to produce before it pays for itself.
We run a software review directory, so we price these platforms for vendors every week. Everything below comes from SourceForge's own vendor documentation, read on October 2, 2026, plus the plan descriptions published by third party reviewers where SourceForge itself is silent. Where a figure is reported rather than published, it says so.

SourceForge pricing by plan
SourceForge lists its vendor plans on a pricing page but shows no dollar amounts. The feature split below follows the plan descriptions reviewers have summarized from that page.
| Plan | Price | What it adds | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Business Software Listing | Free | Claim and edit your profile, screenshots, pricing, a review link to send customers, public replies to reviews | Every B2B vendor, as a baseline |
| Plus | Quote only | Promotion in up to two categories, placement on competitor pages, higher on site search, review generation, unlimited website clicks, profile visitor data, interactive demos, AI search optimization | A vendor that wants the profile to send traffic, not just exist |
| Premium | Quote only | More category promotion, buyer intent data, Google Analytics and Zapier support, a larger review generation program | Teams with a sales process that can act on intent signals |
| Amplify | Quote only | Retargeting of SourceForge visitors across display and LinkedIn | Vendors already paying for paid social |
| Precision ABM | Quote only | Account based targeting, competitor intent data, content syndication | Mid market and enterprise sellers with named account lists |
| Enterprise | Quote only | Buyer intent API, CRM and 6sense integration, sponsored content, newsletter and podcast exposure | Large vendors buying a full demand generation package |
Some third party write ups attach dollar figures to SourceForge's pay per click model, such as bids of $5 to $50 a click and a monthly floor of $500 to $1,000. SourceForge has not published those numbers, so treat them as a rough sense of scale, not a price you can plan around.
Is SourceForge free for software vendors?
Yes. SourceForge's own getting started guide says it is free for software vendors to claim, edit and manage their listing. The free Basic listing covers commercially available B2B software that fits at least one of its categories. You get a public profile, you can collect and answer reviews, and buyers can find you in category and comparison pages, just ranked below vendors on paid plans.
That last point is the catch. SourceForge's traffic guide states that upgraded listings "get prioritized heavily" on category, comparison, alternatives, competitor and integration pages. A free profile exists. A paid one gets shown.
How much traffic does SourceForge actually send?
SourceForge says it gets over 21 million visitors a month across more than 4,000 business software categories, with a Moz Domain Authority of 93. It also says roughly a third of that traffic is direct, a third is referral and under a third comes from search engines, and that more than 86% is desktop.
Read those numbers with the history in mind. SourceForge started in 1999 as an open source hosting site, and it still serves millions of open source downloads a day. A large share of the 21 million are developers downloading a project, not a finance lead comparing accounting software. The business software directory is a big site in its own right, but the headline figure is not the size of your buyer pool. Ask your rep for profile views and click outs in your specific category before you sign anything.
What does a SourceForge plan have to return?
Because there is no list price, the useful math runs backwards. Take the quote, divide by what a new customer is worth to you in year one, and you get the number of customers the plan has to produce to break even. The table uses example quotes, not SourceForge prices.
| Example annual quote | Customers needed at $1,200 first year value | Customers needed at $6,000 | Customers needed at $25,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $6,000 | 5 | 1 | Less than 1 |
| $12,000 | 10 | 2 | Less than 1 |
| $24,000 | 20 | 4 | 1 |
The pattern is the same one we see with G2 pricing and Capterra PPC. A product that sells for $100 a month needs a lot of closed deals from one channel to justify a five figure contract. A product with $25,000 contracts needs one. That is why paid SourceForge plans, like most review site upgrades, make sense for mid market and enterprise sellers first and for self serve tools last.
Is SourceForge buyer intent data worth paying for?
Buyer intent data is worth paying for only if someone on your team will act on it within days. Premium and the higher plans show which companies are researching your category, your product or your competitors on SourceForge. On its own that is a list of company names. It turns into pipeline when a rep picks those accounts up and reaches out while the research is fresh, for example by feeding them into cold email software that researches each prospect and writes the sequence for you. Without that follow through, intent data is a dashboard nobody opens.
Is it worth listing your software on SourceForge?
The free listing is worth it for almost any B2B vendor. It takes an afternoon, it creates another third party page about your product, and it puts you into comparison and alternatives pages, even if below paid vendors. Fill in pricing, screenshots and integrations so the page answers a buyer's questions.
The paid plans are worth testing when three things are true: your average contract is large enough that two or three deals cover the quote, your category on SourceForge has visible buyer traffic, and you can track click outs through to trials or demos. If any of the three is missing, spend that money where your exact buyers already compare tools.
Cheaper places to be found by software buyers
If the SourceForge quote is more than one channel deserves at your stage, these cost less and still put you in front of people comparing software:
- Free profiles on the big review sites. G2, Capterra and SourceForge all have one. Claim them and keep them current.
- A flat fee review profile. A priority listing here is $49 a month or $288 a year, with a profile, an alternatives page that catches competitor searches and a dofollow link. No quote and no annual contract to negotiate.
- Category directories. Our SaaS directory comparison lists what each one charges.
- Launch platforms for a burst of early users when you ship something new. See the costs on our product launch platforms page.

SourceForge pricing FAQ
How much does SourceForge cost for vendors?
SourceForge costs nothing for a Basic Business Software Listing. Its paid vendor plans, Plus, Premium, Amplify, Precision ABM and Enterprise, have no published price and are quoted by the sales team based on the categories, features and promotion you want. Ask for a written quote with the contract length before comparing it with other review sites.
Does SourceForge charge per click?
SourceForge sells promotion that drives clicks to your website, and third party reviewers describe part of it as pay per click with bids that vary by category. The Plus plan description includes unlimited website clicks. Ask your rep whether your quote is a flat fee or a click budget, because the two behave very differently when traffic spikes.
How do I list my software on SourceForge?
To list software on SourceForge, search for your product, claim the existing profile if there is one, or submit a new business software listing. Then fill in categories, pricing, screenshots, features and integrations. The product has to be publicly available to businesses and offered by the actual vendor.
Is SourceForge a good alternative to G2?
SourceForge is a reasonable alternative to G2 for reach, since its free listing and big audience cost nothing to start. G2 has more weight with enterprise buyers who read its grid reports. Many vendors keep free profiles on both and pay for only one. Our G2 alternatives page compares the options on vendor cost.
Whatever you decide about SourceForge, the profile that ranks for your own product name is the one buyers read right before they pay. Make sure at least one of them is complete, current and full of real reviews.
